Shopify is genuinely easier for non-technical business owners. The dashboard is clean and logical. Adding products, managing orders, and running promotions is intuitive. You don't need to know anything about servers or code.
WooCommerce has more moving parts — your WordPress installation, hosting setup, and plugins all need management. It's not difficult for someone technically minded, and with the right developer setting it up properly, day-to-day management is perfectly manageable. But it's not as plug-and-play as Shopify out of the box.

Shopify offers around 100 official themes — a mix of free and paid. Within those themes, customisation is possible through settings and (for developers) Shopify's Liquid templating language. WooCommerce, running on WordPress, has essentially unlimited design flexibility. Any WordPress theme can work with WooCommerce. SEO: WooCommerce Has the Edge

Full URL control, a world-class blogging platform, and plugins like Yoast and Rank Math that give granular control over every on-page element. Shopify's SEO has improved significantly, but its URL structure limitations and comparatively weak blogging tools are genuine disadvantages for content-driven SEO strategies.
Payment Gateways in India
Both platforms support Razorpay, PayU, CCAvenue, and Paytm. The difference: WooCommerce integrations with Indian gateways are generally cleaner and come without additional transaction fees from the platform. With Shopify, you pay the gateway fee plus Shopify's own transaction fee. That's a meaningful cost difference for businesses at scale.
Scalability
Both scale — just differently. Shopify scales automatically. As your traffic and order volume grow, Shopify handles the infrastructure. You just pay more as you move up tiers. WooCommerce scales with your hosting — you'll need to upgrade your hosting plan as traffic grows, but you have full control over the infrastructure and the associated costs.
